Retrofit + BER Certificate
As well as obtaining a compulsory BER Certificate for dwellings for sale or rent, owners of existing dwellings may be concerned about the current energy rating of their home. BERC will guide homeowners to enable them to carry out cost-effective improvements – now commonly referred to as a ‘retrofit’ – before putting it on the market for sale or rent. This is based on the premise that after 1 January 2009, a higher rating will add value to your home.
This Service:
- Calculates the energy demand and Co2 emissions of the building in its current state;
- Outlines how specific retrofitting of insulations, heating systems and renewable technologies will affect the final result.
- After the retrofit has been completed, the BER certificate can then be processed.

In this option the assessor will visit the home to carry out his survey and calculations and will then sit down with the owners in their home and give them comprehensive advice on the necessary steps to be taken.
