Building Energy Rating or BER is similar to the energy label on a fridge with a scale of A to G. A-rated homes are the most energy efficient and G-rated ones A are the least efficient. A BER Certificate is compulsory for all new homes for which planning permission was applied from 1 January 2007 and for homes for sale or rent from 1 January 2009. Along with a BER Certificate, we will also provide you with an Advisory Report, which will help you to identify ways of improving the energy performance of your home. BERC will provide an independent registered BER Assessor who has been trained under the National Framework of Qualifications and is registered with Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI).
We provide a number of options from which you can choose, as follows:
Option 1 - Choose our BER only option for your New Build
This service is chosen on the completion of the dwelling and provides a fully SEI registered BER Certificate, along with an Advisory Report detailing future energy saving improvements. All dwelling specifications and support documentation, in addition to a complete set of architectural drawings representing the completed build, will be required to complete this option.

Option 2 - Choose a BER and New Build Energy Saving Plan
This option provides a BER Certificate in addition to our New Build Energy Saving Plan, and is suitable at any stage from planning right up to the early stages of the building process. BERC will carry out a detailed analysis of drawings and specifications leading to a comprehensive report at that stage followed by the BER on completion of the build.

- This will ensure that the house will achieve high energy performance and lower running costs.
- To achieve this, the report will highlight achievable improvements, better products, better detailing and more efficient heating systems.
